The Wading River Historical Society met with Brookhaven Town officials urging them to take immediate steps to stabilize the condition of Wading River's oldest structure, the Josiah Woodhull House. The recent collapse of another Brookhaven historic structure the Mott House in Gordon Heights prompted Wading River Historical Society President Stephanie Bail and Recording Secretary Sid Bail to request a meeting with Brookhaven officials at the Woodhull House. The inspection of the house and grounds showed several serious problems. Two of the most serious issues are the need for a new tarp to be installed on the Woodhull House roof and the fact that the historic barn on the proerty is on the verge of collapse. Brookhaven Parks Commissioner Ed Morris told the Bails that steps will soon be taken to deal with these and other issues related to stabilzing the house and property. |
