epcal appeal fight continues

According to the LI Pine Barrens Society "Riverhead still has the opportunity to prevent the LI Pine Barrens Commission from appealing Judge Baisley's ruling-a determination that would exempt EPCAL from Commission review, and worst still, that would define economic development throughout the entire Pine Barrens region as non-development under the Pine Barrens Protection Act!" Although the Town of Riverhead requested that the Commission withdraw its appeal of Baisley's decision the Commission voted to table the request until its next meeting on 1/21. The Pine Barrens Society and several other groups believe that if Judge Biasley's decision would not only exclude the Commission from involvement in the"outlandish" Riverhead resorts plan but eradicate almost any enforcement the Commision holds over economic development in the Pine Barrens region.
