tax refund for brookhaven swr residents

Some residents of Three Village and Shoreham Wading River will be receiving a refund check from the Town of Brookhaven. A computer glitch cause an error that gave a full tax exemption to Jefferson's Ferry and to LIPA property in Shoreham. In reality the exemptions in both communities should have been a partial and not a full exemption. The town believes it has an acceptable agreement in hand with Jefferson"s Ferry and LIPA and anticipates sending out refund checks soon. It is estimated that the refunds in Three Village will get on average $40 and in the Brookhaven portion of Shoreham Wading River about $200 on average.
